Meet Niravta & Keerti Mathur

Niravta & Keerti Mathur are breathing teachers and practitioners who have been teaching breathwork for over 20 years through the Art of Living Foundation. Mindful practices such as breathwork and meditation are proven to be some of the best defences against stress, as well as being a key tool that people at the top of their industries use to improve performance. Few organisations have amplified this more than the Art of Living, a global organisation founded by humanitarian and meditation expert Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in 1982. Sri Sri is regarded as an authority on meditation and breathwork and is firmly rooted in the deep and rich traditions of yoga and its ancient Vedic scriptures. He has made this wisdom accessible and usable in more than 150 countries, benefiting millions through his teachings and peace work. Keerti is an Osteopath who also teaches anatomy to yoga instructors and Osteopathic techniques to postgraduate students. A keen holistic practitioner, Keerti has a deep understanding of how our mind, body and emotions are connected. Niravta is the co-director of Art of Living UK and also runs a digital tech business which, amongst many products and services, promotes self-care and meditation practices. Niravta integrates contemporary teaching with a spotlight on tradition.

Course description

Niravta & Keerti Mathur from the Art of Living teach you breathwork, pranayama and the art of breathing in their online breathing course.

Learn to breath effectively and control your breathe and you'll find you can effect your physical and mental health. Breathing techniques have been shown to improve sleep and reduce stress and anxiety levels. This course includes breathwork exercises inspired by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, an Indian yoga guru and mindfulness expert.

Each lesson will take you through a different breathing technique, the benefits and how to practice your breathing. You'll learn the history of breathwork, the benefits of each breathing exercise, and when to use each breathing technique.

At the end of each lesson you'll have a breathing practice to learn, and be able to share the benefits that you find from your breathwork (and any challenges) in the online class and with your breathing tutors.

Niravta and Keerti will show you how to using breathing techniques to calm your mind, increase your energy levels, focus and release anxiety.

Breath techniques you'll learn on this course include straw breath, bee breath, ocean breath and 3-stage pranayama, bellows breath and alternate nostril breathing.

Time to complete the breathing course:

Every student is different but in general we think the whole course will take around 13 hours 20 minutes to complete including:

  • Video lessons: 1 hours 20 minutes in total
  • Course notes: 30 minutes per lesson
  • Breathing practice: at least 2 hours per lesson
  • Interactive classroom time: 15 minutes per lesson
  • Tutor feedback review (Expert level): 15 minutes per lesson
You'll need

You can practice your breathing either sat on a yoga mat, lying down or sitting on a chair or sofa.

The course is suitable for all levels and for any level of fitness.
